Recognition, Aircraft |
One PBJ was over Mille
Atoll from 2129M to 2223M on a night harassing mission.
Approximately ten runs were made, interspersed with reconnaissance
flights over the atoll. Runs were made in all
directions, initiating at 3000 feet with releases at 900-1000'.
Eight 75mm, four on Lukunor Island, two on Inewa Island, and two on
Chirben Island. Two 5" rockets on Lukunor Island. Six
rockets jettisoned and two bombs returned to base due to Mechanical
malfunction.
Damage unobserved because of darkness and altitude of flight. Oil
leak forced premature return to base. Light, meagre, inaccurate
A/A observed coming from Inewa Island. Weather over the target 4/10 cumulus
from 2000 to 7000 feet. |
