Two planes took off to harass the Jap garrison reported on N.E. corner Kaven Island.  Visibility was very low at take off due to thundershowers but improved over target.  Two planes departed a half hour apart and each plane was over the target for approximately 45 minutes combining dry runs with bombing and strafing runs.  The radar being out on one plane resulted in the bombs being dropped in the lagoon east of Bebi Island on the first run.  The second plane was able to line up the target during its approach using A.P.S. radar then drop or fire visually when visual range was reached.  Bombs were dropped in level flight at 165 kts. at 1500'.  No enemy activity or antiaircraft fire was observed and the darkenss prevented assessment of damage.  Both planes returned to base without incident, the second landing at Kwajalein at 0145, 14 January, Mike.
